Being able to change the beam, from 10 to 50 degrees is now a reality, in trackspots, downlights and pendant luminaires.
An ultra smooth & even beam is created using the Genius modules, and enables lighting designers the ability to design dynamic and flexible schemes never previously conceivable
We push boundaries, and create products never previously conceivable. By working with leading edge technology providers, we combine their best in class tech, to deliver world class lighting solutions
Each aspect is considered, from the LED, control protocol, mixing chamber, beam changing lens - and it works - brilliantly!
Only the best will do. Where output and efficiency have seen major improvements over the past 2 decades, this has often been at the expense of light quality.
Premium light quality is a standard, not only in terms of colour rendering, but also even light across the colour spectrum and all beam angles.
The Fourth Dimension of Lighting
aeros is a technology led company, and we are fortunate enough to be able to work with the latest technologies across our luminaires. We consider every detail when developing a luminaire, designing with only the best components & technologies at every level. Every aspect matters, from LED to optic; liquid crystal lens to onboard electronics, we only design compponents which are best in class.
We start with the LED source, pairing it with the right optic to harness the light, and maximise performance. LEDs have developed significantly, with the latest variants offering high efficiencies with excellent output and colour rendering to deliver a premium quality of light. We work with the latest European brand LEDs to deliver market leading performance in terms of output, efficacy and colour rending.
The optic needs to create the tightest beam possible before it passes through the liquid crystal lens, so we use a 10 degree optic specifically designed for the light emitting surface of the LED. Our optics deliver over 92% lens efficiency and produce the best luminous efficiency in the world.
The light is then passed through a liquid crystal lens from Lens Vector, and then by applying an electrical current, the beam can be changed. from 10 to 50 degrees. This sounds simple, but making this work smoothly, evenly and effectively is not just a forgone conclusion. We've spent significant time and effort tuning this to be just right, combining the LED, optic, liquid crystal lens and electronics to ensure outstanding results.
All this ground breaking technology is only useful if it con be powered and controlled effectively, and by working with our technology partner Eulum Design, our electronics is controlled by Dali or wirelessly with companies like Casambi. All the electronics is miniaturised to enable us to build fully integral luminaires in a modular format to enable simple interchange in the future.
As light output and efficiencies have improved over the past couple of decades, sometimes that has been at the expense of light quality, and how things look when illuminated by an artificial light. We understand light & design, and have decades of experience working with LEDs and controls technology, which means we are uniquely positioned to create technology led, well designed products for your projects
So yes, the beam angle on our products can be controlled digitally via dali or wirelessly with brands like Casambi, but how smooth is the dimming - can you see clear steps when you change the beam? Does the light become distorted, or are there colour shifts across the beam as it dims or changes colour? We make sure the lit effect is perfect across the dimming, beam and colour range.
The LED, optic and liquid crystal lens need to be optimised to ensure a smooth and even beam, and the Genius and Air modules ensure just that. Every aspect is considered to deiliver world class beam quality, just as you and your clients would expect.
We only work with sources at 90 CRI or above, and have some specific products at 98 CRI where the subject needs to be near perfectly illuminated. We're also experimenting with peaking certain colours within the spectrum too, to maximise rendering and efficiency too.
LED efficiencies still continue to amaze, with some sources now capable of achieving an initial 200 lumens per Watt. The progress which has been made over the past 20 years, since the initial 18 lumens per one Watt Luxeon LED is phenomenal, and although the days of exponential efficiency steps have gone, there are still significant and important gains to be had by using the very latest technologies.
